Honoring Our Rivers is now accepting student submissions for the 2011 publication! Entry deadline is January 31st, 2011, and submissions can be made via traditional mail or email. For uploading larger files, please contact Briana.

Any student, kindergarten through college, is eligible to submit their literature and artwork. Selected entries will be published in the Anthology alongside esteemed invited writers. The authors of published pieces will receive a free copy of the anthology and a chance to be featured in upcoming events. Submissions should focus on the relationship between people and the Willamette Watershed--the waters, weather, land, plants, animals and habitats that make up this beautiful and fragile river system. “Literature” is broadly defined to include fiction, poetry and essays in any area of study, including history, science, philosophy or the arts. Students may also write about experiences participating in a restoration or clean up effort. Black and white photos and drawings are encouraged, both as separate submissions or as aids in clarifying and supporting written work. (digital entries are encouraged).

“Honoring Our River provides Oregon students with a wonderful creative opportunity to reflect on their personal connection to the river - and we know from education research that the reflective process intensifies the impact of student learning. ” ~ Susan Abravanel, Education Director, SOLV

“In the end, this is what Honoring Our River is all about--the reminder that we are, all of us who live in the Willamette River watershed, people of the river.” ~ Kathleen Dean Moore, Educator and Author
